Our Background: The Genesis of the Cameroon Literacy Initiative
The Cameroon Literacy Initiative was born from the resilient spirit of a young visionary who, amidst personal loss and hardship, recognized the transformative power of education. With support from his community and friends, he turned adversity into a catalyst for change—not just for himself but for children and adults across the globe.
Founded in 2016 by this enterprising engineering student, the initiative, initially known as Smart and Green Cameroon, embarked on a mission to bridge educational gaps. The organization has since been a beacon of hope, guiding underprivileged children from rural villages to the empowering light of education in urban schools.
Smart and Green Cameroon’s commitment to sustainable educational development has paved the way for the Cameroon Literacy Initiative, expanding its vision beyond Cameroon’s borders. Our work embodies the belief that literacy and education are vital tools for empowerment, enabling individuals and communities to break free from the shackles of poverty and stride towards sustainable development.

Vision
Our vision for the International Coalition for Global Literacy is a world where every individual has access to high-quality education and the resources they need to develop the skills necessary to succeed in today’s world. Through community libraries, mentorship programs, and community learning centers, we aim to empower individuals and communities to achieve sustainable development.
